Why Memorial?

Faith. Knowledge. Service.
These are just three words
that describe a Memorial education, but these three words mean much more to each student who walks through the halls of Reitz Memorial High School.  Below are some responses we've received from students and parents who believe that Memorial is the perfect place for a quality education!  If you have something to say about you or your child's education at Memorial, please submit your thoughts at the bottom of this page.

What Students Are Saying:

My experience at Reitz Memorial High School is one that I will truly not forget. Coming here as a freshman, the Memorial community offered many different activities to assist in my change from grade school to high school. Getting involved is very important; it brings out the character in every student. Today, there are over 35 clubs & organizations which students can become members.

Block scheduling at Memorial has made life much easier. Students get to experience something different each day. They have time to participate in science labs, review homework during class, or attend an important club meeting.

Faith is an important aspect of Memorial. Throughout my entire high school years I can express my faith with fellow students and teachers. Theology classes and school liturgies help deepen my faith with Christ.

When the whole Memorial community comes together, I feel like we are a family determined to get through life’s ups and downs. As a 4th generation Memorial student in my family, I continue the tradition: The Tradition of Excellence!

Class of 2009

Throughout my four years at Reitz Memorial High School, different teachers have taught me numerous lessons in academics. From biology and chemistry, to Spanish and pre-calculus, I have learned a lot of important information that will prepare me for the next steps of my life. Above all of these classes, however, I highly cherish my faith in God as well as being blessed with the chance to develop a stronger relationship with Him, by attending a Catholic school. Through theology classes, penance services, and our monthly mass, I feel that my Catholic education has given me the ability to better understand my faith as well as to help it continue to grow.

Memorial High School has instilled many values in me as I have made my way through these past years. My friends have also helped me in an uncountable number of ways throughout all of our days together. We teach each other the importance of friendship through listening, advising, and simply enjoying ourselves to the fullest each and every day. We take great pride in wearing our blue and white, and we know that we are lucky to have received the opportunity of walking through the halls of Memorial, an opportunity that many people will never get to experience. Along with the rest of the student body, our school spirit shines through every aspect of our life, from academics, to athletics, to representing our school out in the community. I truly feel blessed to have been a part of this lasting tradition of Reitz Memorial High School.

What Parents Are Saying:

MHS fulfills the very essence of what a Catholic-Christian education means - scholastically challenging, spiritually fortifying, socially responsible, respect and tolerance of others whether they are the same as you or different from you.

Also the Teachers who commit their time and ability to see each student succeed, both in the classroom and in life outside of it.
-Julie Bath

Catholicism:  a learning experience in the environment of the Catholic faith and its teachings

Commitment:  a dedicated faculty sharing their knowledge and experience at far less compensation than their public school counterparts

Community:  be it academics or sports, good or bad, the Memorial community unites to support the efforts of the students

I wanted our kids to experience Memorial for a learning experience in a Catholic environment, taught by truly dedicated, caring teachers.
