Executive Director
SUBJECT: Message from the Reitz Memorial High School Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees of Reitz Memorial High School is pleased to announce that Mr. Kenneth J. Schultheis has accepted the position of Executive Director of Reitz Memorial High effective immediately.
As Executive Director, Ken will have overall responsibility for all aspects of the school including academics, institutional advancement, enrollment, marketing and the spiritual culture that evokes the Memorial tradition. Ken’s strong faith, academic and business experience, proven leadership and exceptional communication skills, along with his commitment to the values of our Catholic schools, make him a great fit to be the leader of Memorial High School.
The selection of Mr. Schultheis as the first executive director of Reitz Memorial High School is a result of the direction, approved by Bishop Gettelfinger and announced in December 2009, to change the governance model of the two Evansville Catholic High Schools. The new model provides for both Reitz Memorial and Mater Dei to each be governed by their individual Board of Trustees and the appointment of an Executive Director, reporting to the Board, who will be the recognized leader of their respective school. The schools will continue to collaborate and share best practices in many areas.
Anticipating his new role as the leader of Memorial, Mr. Schultheis stated, “I am excited as I consider the possibilities and challenges ahead. Reitz Memorial High School has sculpted a tradition of excellence that spans 86 years. It clearly offers our students a well rounded, faith based educational experience and includes the finest in academics, fine arts and athletics. The impact of its alumni and faculty in the greater Evansville area is well documented, as is their leadership in the Catholic community in the region. Memorial High School holds a very special place for me and my family. My father (Ed, class of ‘48) and his eight siblings, as well as my mother (Rose Ann Schmitt, class of ’52) attended Memorial and my uncle, Leo Schultheis, taught here for over 20 years. When we moved to Evansville, my wife and I made proximity to Memorial High School our top priority when purchasing a home. The opportunity to team with Principal Gwen Godsey and the dedicated faculty and staff in serving the ever growing Memorial High School family, as its first Executive Director, is something I am very much looking forward to. The Executive Director position at Memorial is much more than a job, it is a vocation.”
Please join us in congratulating Ken on his new position. We are excited to have reached this decision and look forward to his vision and continuous success in preparing our young people for their future.
